An old project re-visited
I thought I would revisit a project that we previously did here at the house. This sparked my interest again as, the other day, it was raining and I rushed outside to play in it and check my systems. I heard the water rushing into the pipe and remembered just how much water gets thrownthat way....sweet.
Here is the original blog post from an AZHS (Arizona Homegrown Solutions) member. It was a great day and a great project to help solve a problem and create a more responsible solution!

**by the way, Hey Arizona... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop putting in Chilean mesquites! They are ruining our natives
ENJOY!

Hey Junkie,
I'm just curious - you say that the Chilean Mesquites are ruining the natives. How so?

The pollen mixes with the other Natives and is starting to make identification a little troublesome. This also makes the pods (used for flour) to be taste and characteristically compromised. I would like to see the genetics of our 3 main mesquite species to be withheld! (most of my information comes from Desert Survivors nursery in Tucson, and other ecology teachers)
Thanks for asking ap

Is honey mesquite a native?
I am sorry, I planted 3 Chileans before I knew! (now big.)

Honey mesquite is definately native, and the flour I had from it last year was really good! I still say Velvet has the best though (something about that cinnimon hint it has). No hard feelings on the Chileans, they are wonderful for shade when healthy!
Thanks for reading Nancy
